Subscribe and Unsubscribe Information ======================================= 1. WHAT'S NEW Hi Throwers, Since starting this newsletter 80 issues ago, you people have had it pretty easy, but now I have a mission for you! :-) Your mission (aka "Operation Spreading The Addiction") is to introduce atleast one new person to the sport of recreational knife throwing before the end of Summer! If we want our sport to grow we gotta put a bit of effort into it once in a while. Call a friend or neighbor over, let your mail carrier try a few rounds or bamboozle the water delivery guy into giving it a go! I mention knife and hawk throwing to just about EVERY person I come in contact with throughout the day. Most of them just say it sounds like fun but don't really want to give it a try. But every once in a while you find someone who really enjoys it and gets just as addicted to the sport as you. And thats a great feeling! :-) So the next time you're out on your range throwing, and you see your neighbor, mail person or water delivery guy... flag him/her down and hand him some knives! You just might find another person to get together and practice with. SITE UPDATES Remember our friend Farhad, in Iran? Well he sent me some new pics of the most recent things he's been making and throwing. To check out all of the pictures just follow this link: http://www.throwzini.com/farhads_customs.html AOL USERS LINK That's all for this time around! GUEST COLUMN: UPCOMING EVENT IN NETCONG, NEW JERSEY by Joe Darrah Well I have some targets painted and the lumber for building the backstop of the target board so things are coming together for the upcoming WWAC/WKTG Tournament on July 19th and 20th in Netcong, NJ. I have spoken with John Bailey and it looks like this will be an East Coast National event sanctioned by the WKTG (World Knife Throwers Guild) of which John Bailey is the president. He has also graciously donated a 1 year membership to the WKTG along with one of his new Mini Tankri's that Boker is producing. I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at them at the Atlanta Blade Show, and the one he is donating will have his personal logo on it and I can probably get him to autograph it for the winner. The Hawk and Knife events will be separate, Thomi Hawk will be running the hawk event and I will be running the knife throwing event. I have made 3 custom throwing knives as prizes for the first, second and third place winners. They will be engraved with the WKTG and WWAC names on the blades. I think it's shaping up to be a pretty good tournament and I look forward to seeing some old friends and making lot's of new one's so if you can make it please come out and represent your area or state! So far there will be people from RI, OH, VA, PA, NJ and maybe NY. This event has been held here for over 10 years. The location is only 40 minutes west of New York City and 10 minutes from the Pennsylvania border. DISTANCES AND TARGETS It will be a lot of throwers' first tournament and the distances will be 8' for 1/2 spin, 12' for 1 spin, 15' for 1 1/2 spins and 18' for 2 spins. The targets will be log rounds with a 2 1/2" Bullseye with an 8" ring around that and a 16" ring around that. Standard WKTG Rules, there may be some younger people there to throw as well and for that reason I believe we will allow knives from 10" to 16" and no more than 2 1/2" wide. If anyone has a problem with this we will take a group vote. Also we will be throwing at 2 targets, at 2 different heights and you will be given the opportunity to throw all 5 knives at one target at a time or throw your knives one at a time to avoid damage to them. It looks like we're going to have a good time and I look forward to seeing you all there!
