We were getting spoiled here in WI with the temperatures in the 50's and 60's up until last week! Now its back to reality. I just looked outside at our thermometer and it says its a whopping 23 degrees :( Come on Spring time!!! I haven't been out much throwing lately, (and I really get along with my current landlord) so I haven't set up my normal indoor range. But the urge is growing :) I was next door at Fred's a few nights ago (he's the landlord), and we were throwing his sks spikes in the basement. We had two log rounds and an old door leaning against one wall. What a cheap form of entertainment! I still can't believe how much fun I have doing this... I hope it never ends!!! To check out some other types of spikes, and even learn how to make a set for only a few bucks and a bit of manual labor, just follow this link: http://www.throwzini.com/spikes.html SITE UPDATES There's a new picture under the INDOOR TARGET section that I think you'll all get a kick out of. For those of you who always wanted to throw indoors, but couldn't find a small enough target... this is for you :) http://www.throwzini.com/gordons_nailtarget.html Until next time... GUEST COLUMN: Following is a message I received from another throwing enthusiast! I get emails from people who live all over the world, and sometimes its nice to share them to remind people how lucky we are. Can you believe its illegal to throw knives in other countries? One thing is for sure... I won't be visiting Iran anytime soon :) There are some great pictures that go along with this article. All homemade stuff!!! Just read to the end of the article for more info about checking out the pics. A MESSAGE ABOUT KNIFE THROWING... IN IRAN by Farhad Abedpour My name is Farhad Abedpour (36yrs old). I am a civil engineer and manager of Rayan Sazeh Co. I am married and have a four year girl. I started throwing 2 years ago, after I severely injured my right hand in an accident, (I cut all the nerves in it), and I needed some physical therapy. After 8 months of therapy, I started knife and needle-throwing!!! My first practice was with the needle, and I learned to throw one spin from 2 meters (6 feet). The length of the needle was 10 centimeters (1/3 foot). After a while, the "therapy" started working. My wrist was getting stronger and I was ready to move up to "knife" throwing. About six months ago, I started Internet and searched for information about "knife throwing" and "throwing knives". Thats when I found your site and translated your free tips and newsletters which were very useful to me. (An interesting point, I requested the 101 FREE KNIFE THROWING TIPS Info-Pak from your web site and I used your guide and now I throw that same needle from 8 meters - 24 feet - for 1 spin) My progress is slow because in Iran throwing knives are illegal and they will prosecute anyone who buys or sells a throwing knife. So I must practice hidden. (I practiced throwing in our dining room and damaged all the furniture... my wife was very angry?) HOMEMADE THROWERS I also have to make all of my own throwers. The materials I used to make my throwing tools were a car spring and a big saw blade. I made my first simple design by sawing, grinding and shaping. I hope to continue to practice throwing and making knives for a long time. Sincerely Yours, Farhad A. far366@yahoo.com To see some great pics of Farhad's homemade throwers just follow this link to the CUSTOM DESIGNS page: http://www.throwzini.com/customdesigns.html ============================================= 3.
