Contact Info/Reprint Guidelines ======================================= 1. WHAT'S NEW Hello Brothers and Sisters!!! I'm back from Phoenix and I miss it already! The weather was perfect, (in the 80's everyday!), the targets were huge, soft Palm Tree rounds, and the people were some of the best I've ever had the pleasure to meet! After the event I got all sorts of tips from some of the best throwers in the world! I took the advice and tried it out... and my score improved immediately! (Too bad nobody wanted to share tips before the event :) CONGRATS TO THE GRANDMASTER & GURU OF KNIFE THROWING This was my first event and I have to say, I think its going to be a while before I see throwing like I did at this IKTA contest! Everybody that took part in the event did a great job! And if I wore a hat I would take it off to all of them... But Pat Minter was unbelievable! I'm not going to give you all the details... but I will tell you that in one of the "2 Spin" rounds, he threw 5 BULLSEYES from 18'!!! That's 5 knives into a 3 inch triangle! One after another! The first knife landed on the edge of the triangle. And each knife he threw afterwards laid right next to the previous one... It was awesome! A perfect score of 25pts! You can tell he put a lot of time and dedication in at the old throwing range before this event. And thats what helped him earn his new nickname... Pat Minter..."THE MACHINE" I look forward to seeing you all there next year! You know I'll be practicing all Summer :) Scott Gracia The Great Throwzini Web Site For all of the final scores of this event check out the IKTA page in our EVENTS section. http://www.throwzini.com UPCOMING EVENTS There are so many events coming up I don't even know where to start! (What a great problem to have :) The PKT has an event coming up, and so does the GTA, (you'll learn more about them in a minute, so pay attention all you Georgia throwers). And there are also some Mountain Man events coming up. There are new clubs popping up all over the place. Finally our evil plan is coming together ;) Anyway, for more details about these steel chuckin' contests check out the EVENTS section of our home page http://www.throwzini.com OTHER UPDATES When you visit the site you'll also notice a brand new QUICK IDEA and a brand new THROWZINI FORUM! The new board is doing great! I've re-done it again to get it just right. And I think its a keeper this time! It has separate categories now for each subject. Like one for AXES and another for KNIVES. There's all sorts of cool throwing tips! So if you want to find throwers in your area or lots of other great ideas just visit our homepage and click on the THROWZINI FORUM link. http://www.throwzini.com Thanks again to everyone that submitted their info/pics!!! ======================================== 2. GUEST COLUMN: THE GTA'S "SPRING FLING" EVENT! by Frank V. Rago The GTA (Georgia Throwers Association) is happy to announce the Spring Fling. A knife throwing, bow shooting event. April 14, 2001 at the Rago Homestead in White, Georgia. (one mile north of Cartersville, 40 min. N. of Atlanta). Rain date April 21, 2001 We will be assisting a few first time bowyers in the completion of their long awaited projects. So bring some bows that you have made to show off, trade, and shoot. Trading is encouraged. Rendezvous is 8am to ????????? This event will happen at the Rago Homestead. There will be tables and benches and a bathroom in the house. There will be a Saturday night fire to sit around tellin' stories about the ones that got away, or maybe the ones that didn't. There is room for more than a couple of tents if you decide you want to camp Saturday night. THE FOOD!!! Ah, the food. We will be serving deer meat and Georgia turkey from the Leon Scott freezer. I do not know what he does to his deer, but I swear he gets the best tasting deer in Georgia. We will also have on the spit Wild Hog meat from the two best hog hunters I know, Danny Leigh and Tim Rhaden. Tim takes his hogs with stickbow, cane arrows and flint knapped arrowheads. Yup, sometimes he gets chased! There will also be a stockpile of hot-dogs for those that are not too fond of wild critter. Along with a bucket of baked beans, sodas, and chips. So, if you want to learn how to throw knives and hawks, or learn how to build a bow, or just want to shoot your bow on the off season... just stop by. And have a good meal while you're at it! This is not just a guy thing, so bring the ladies and the kids. Been finding out that the ladies and the children are giving us ruff tuff guys some serious competition. (Wheely bows are welcome.) There is no charge for this event. For more info please call: Frank V. A NEW POKER GAME by Brady Oxender Simply attach a deck of cards to a board and have 2 or more people take turns throwing at them. You build your hand by throwing at the cards you want, and the winner is the one who gets the best hand. For example, the person who throws into four Aces and a King beats the guy who can only hit 5's and 6's. Repeat cards are not allowed. (If two players hit the same card, the person who hit it first gets it... the other must throw again. The game is best if played from atleast three spins away, as it gets too easy if played from up close. Try betting some money, I made $30 with my handle throwers against a guy with throwing cards and stars. He may stick 'em more... but accuracy counts :) Article Contributed by: Brady Oxender broxender@worldnet.att.net ============================================= If you have any questions about throwing that you would like answered in one of our upcoming issues, simply send an e-mail to: sgracia@wi.rr.com with QUESTION FOR NEWSLETTER in the Subject Line, and your name and question in the body. ============================================= (Copyright 2001, Scott Gracia, The Great Throwzini.)
