NEW 14" THROWZINI THROWING KNIVES STOLEN FROM POST OFFICE In the last issue I mentioned the new throwing knives that would be available for a very limited time (until 100 knives are sold). Sorry to say, half of the shipment of knives was stolen on its way to me from Pennsylvania to here in Milwaukee. The knife maker (Joe Darrah) lives in PA and sent the shipment out to me on Nov. 1st. After doing some research we found out that the knives left PA and ended up in the Forest Park, IL post office, and for some reason, they sat there for over a week. When they finally showed up here I instantly knew the crate felt lighter than it should have. So anyway, the knives were insured so thats not a problem, the problem is that the knives have to be remade and since they are all individually "hand ground" by Joe, its going to take some time. Just about all of the knives have already been sold but there are still a few left that haven't been "claimed". So if you were planning to order any of the 14" Throwzini Throwing Knives, I would highly suggest you do it today! 60 out of the 100 knives sold the first day they were available so they won't be around for long. (Just keep in mind that if you do order now, there will be a slight delay until you get your knives since they are in the process of being remade.) GUEST COLUMN THINGS TO THROW BESIDES KNIVES by Chuck Fogarty There are lots of things you can throw besides knives. If you can make a target out of 6 TO 8 layers of card- board, you can enjoy throwing with a variety of things other than knives. * Screwdrivers throw pretty well, mostly for 1/2 turn tho, they aren't balanced. Old files, scissors, and shears all throw well, but of course, not at wood targets. But, you can get a lot of practice throwing at a cardboard target. * Butcher knives and steak knives also throw very well... but they may break. * You can make homemade stars out of a few nails, a nut, a bolt and 2 washers. * Rotary saw blades are great throwers and can sometimes be picked up in resale shops. * One of my best throwers is made of knitting needles. I have 3 metal needles taped together with one protruding for a point. It's a very accurate thrower and I get them at a resale shop. Anything long and skinny that you can sharpen a bit can be thrown and will give you some good practice. Just remember that only genuine throwing knives should be used to throw at wood or other firm targets unless you don't mind if they break.
