Homemade Spikes 
I made these out of 12 inch nails. I had access to a grinder so I took the head of the nails off and ground a point on them approximately one inch long. I wrapped the ends with electrical tape to give them a better grip and to make them look a little colorful. 
Like I said they throw very well. They make the same rotations at the same distances as most of my knives, and they stick deep. They are galvanized so they should be tough but only time will tell.
