Targets From the Home of Damon Wilson
Sent in by Damon Wilson

Since tomahawks tend to destroy a target much quicker than knives or spikes, I decided to make a separate target to throw my hawks at.

1. "This is a shot of the target from the front. It is a 12" thick tree round that is 27" across. It's pretty heavy but I can it move ok (because I am a manly man). I got the biggest round I could find and handle. I then mounted it on a tripod made of 2x4s."

2. "This is a side shot of the target. As you can see it leans back slightly to support itself. It stands approx 5 feet high (my shoulder level)."

3. "This is a shot from the back. I just used lag screws to attach the 2x4s. I figured that it would make it easy to turn it around when the face gets chewed up. The ends of the 2x4s meet in the back to help brace the third 2x4 that supports it."

4. "This is a picture of my Cold Steel norse tomahawk. I might cut the handle down a bit so that it will throw better for me."

This is my new and improved target! The log rounds are the same but the backstop is wider and more sturdy than my last design. After throwing the 13.5 inch Dragons at the old target, the backstop loosened up from all the prying I had to do to remove the knives from the rounds. (Those knives are so awesome)!

1. "This is a front shot of the target. I used 4 - 2x12s and posted them sideways on two 4x4 wood posts. The boards and the round are mounted from the back with screws."

2. "This is a side view. I placed two additional small targets on the sides for an extra challenge."

3. "This is another side view. As shown, the backstop is supported by 4x4's screwed into the side of the posts. I hope this will last for awhile."

4. "I had a little log left over so I decided to give it a try. I can stick it from 12 feet 85% of the time. Anything farther than that is a crap shoot. (for now anyway)."
