2002 Central US Knife Championships


We now would like to invite all knife enthusiasts to attend our event here in Austin, Texas on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of December, 2002.

Lee Fugatt will be our guest of honor and will be conducting seminars for everyone (including over a hundred campers) on the different aspects of thrown weapons. He will also be entered in the competition so practice, practice, practice.

We will have three separate adult competitions for those that have reached their 14th birthday with winners in each division and three overall champions with the most accumulated points in each division. A total of 30 trophies will be awarded as well as certificates for each competitor.

A similar competition for 13 and under will take place Friday the 20 of December the distances will be limited to 8,12,15,18. So bring your family members and make it a family event we will have sight seeing for the ladies and children that are interested in seeing Austin (Free of charge of course!)

TARGETS
We have 3 knife ranges two covered and lighted and one open. Our targets are 16 inch rounds with 2 inch centers and an 8 inch ring around the center or bullseye. We score 3 for center 2 for the eight inch ring and 1 for the outer rim. The targets are from 32 inches to center for the lowest target and 52 inches to center for the highest target. The targets are pine rounds approximately 10 inches thick. There is a backboard 8 foot by 8 foot that the targets are mounted on.

KNIFE THROWING EVENT
Each competitor will throw 15 knives from 5 different positions at 5 different targets from 8ft, 12ft, 15ft, 18ft, 21ft and 24 ft. The scores will be tallied and all knife throwers will be divided into 3 groups according to the score.In other words they will be divided into Advanced ,Intermediate and Novice. Once divided they will throw a sudden death 5 knives at five different targets from 8,12,15,18,21 and 24. The highest scores one through three will be awarded trophies . 1st, 2nd and third advanced,intermediate and novice that is a total of nine trophies and first in each division will enter his sudden death score in the competition for overall championship trophies.

SPEAR THROWING EVENT
Each competitor will throw 10 spears from 5 different positions at 5 different targets 8ft,12ft,15ft,18ft,21ft and 24 ft. The scores will be tallied and all spear throwers will be divided by three giving us Advanced, Intermediate and Novice. The three groups will then throw sudden death 5 spears from each distance 8,12,15,18,21 and 24. The highest scores one through three will be awarded trophies and certificates. Three trophies will be awarded in each division advanced, Intermediate and Novice. First in each division will enter his sudden death score in the competition for overall championship trophies.

HAWK THROWING EVENT
Each competitor will throw 5 hawks from the 14ft mark or behind it 5 times at five different targets. Scores will be tallied and the competitors will be divided by three . Each group will throw a sudden death with 5 hawks and highest scores in each group will receive 1st,2nd and third place trophies . First place in each division will enter their sudden death score in the competition for overall championship trophies.

On Saturday evening we will have a Banquet and certificates will be awarded to all participants and trophies will be awarded for all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place champions as well as the three overall champions in the Novice, Intermediate and Advanced divisions.

Spear Throwing Event: $25.00
Hawk Throwing Event: $25.00
All Three Events: $60.00

This event requires detailed administration and your prompt reply is respectfully requested. All payments must be paid in full by December 1, 2002. If you have any questions at all please let me know.
