1." My set of five blade throwers, custom-made for me by Lee Fugatt. They're 14 inches long and approximately 1.5 inches wide at their widest; thickness is 3/16 inch. The design is inspired by the pesh kabz of northern India and Afghanistan. (Lee slightly modified my original pattern, narrowing the points for better penetration.) This picture shows one knife in bare-steel configuration, and the rest wearing various decorative wraps I applied just for fun. 2. A close-up of one of the wrapped hilts. Ingredients: one leather bootlace and two brass beads. 3. A knife held for throwing. The edges are, of course, blunt. Because of the blade's smooth taper, the depth of grip is easily adjusted for varying distances. 4. A knife held for throwing with a palm grip. Using this method, the knife can be thrown with an extremely slow spin. Half-turn throws up to 14 feet can be achieved with little effort. 5. I like the way they cock their heads! Lee might want to kick me for it, but someday I may grind a sharp edge on one of these babies, drill the tang, and apply elk horn grips, thus converting it into a dandy war knife. No, I don't need a war knife; Heaven forbid. But I think Lee and I have created an uncommonly fine-looking weapon here, and sometimes a man just needs a fine weapon to hold in his hand."
